On 19th of June 2019, the Sisters and the candidates of SJTC Lonavla began the Novena for the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which was named as “Jesus’ week”. All the candidates shared their ideas as to how to celebrate this week. Accordingly, all nine days, the afternoon visit to the Blessed Sacrament was creatively animated, an hour of Praise and Worship every alternate day, Divine Mercy Chaplet followed by the Litany of the Sacred Heart of Jesus at 3.00 pm. The statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was beautifully decorated on the verandah. Candidates also had some activities such as:
- Offering our limitations to Jesus (writing in a paper bit and placing them in the bowl kept near the decorated statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus), and wiping the face of Jesus with the handkerchief as a symbol of consoling Jesus as Veronica did.
- Dressing up Jesus: a Picture of Jesus drawn on the board; Community members do little acts of charity and stick the coloured paper bits on the picture according to the colour of Jesus’ robe.
- Memorizing one Bible quotation each day (quotations related to the Sacred Heart of Jesus)
- Acting out some incidents from the life of Jesus
- Quiz on the life of Jesus (prepared by a candidate and was conducted creatively through PPT)
- Visit to the Narayan Dhama Temple in Lonavla
We prayed for the Sisters, Novices and house girls of our Novitiate community, dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus by picking up two names each day.
All the candidates enthusiastically and joyfully participated in these activities to make this week a memorable one.
