AMAR # 906 Independence Day celebration at Aux-Lonavla!

Being the feast of the Assumption of our Blessed Mother, the statue of Mary was reverently carried in procession by Mrs. Melena Buthello. The Chief Guest, Tr. Rebecca John was ushered in along with the manager, Sr. Teresa Joseph, and Headmistress, Sr. Sheela Furtado. The statue was placed on the pedestal decorated for the occasion. Our guests were felicitated and presented gifts. The National Flag was hoisted by our Chief Guest, Tr. Rebecca. The flag was saluted and the National Anthem was sung enthusiastically. Through a meaningful prayer service, we prayed to the Almighty for our Nation. Scriptures of the major religions were read with reverence.  India’s heritage and glory were expounded upon in speeches by students.

Our Chief Guest was called upon to address the gathering.  Tr. Rebecca developed the theme of Leadership in India and challenged the students to be active and move out of their complacency and take up confident leadership.

The programme ended with the school Head Girl proposing the vote of thanks. Sr. Sheela then spoke about Mother Mary’s leadership as a Mother who lived a life of true freedom and called upon everyone to pray fervently for the nation’s need i.e. to have ethical leaders.  Sr. Sheela also praised the dedicated service of Mrs. Milena, a member of our school support staff.  The programme concluded with prayers once again being offered up for our nation.  The Three Hail Mary’s were fervently recited by the whole school.
