AMAR # 917 15th August a day of Triple Celebrations at Maria Vihar !

It was with great joy, as our Mother Church celebrates the Assumption of our Blessed Mother in Heaven and our nation celebrates its 73rd Independence Day.

So here in Maria Vihar, the 2 celebrations of this day began on the morning of 14th August with our tiny tots with a rally in the campus shouting out “Jai Hind and Vande Mataram” and in the evening with the meaningful vigil service.  15th August wrapped with 3 celebrations dawned with freshness in the air of blessings of Mary, Memories of freedom and love of a sister for her brother as we also celebrated the Raksha Bandhan Day. We were privileged to have Sr. Rita Dora, our Provincial and Sr. Supriya Noronha, the Province Secretary as the Chief Guests for the morning programme. The hostelites staged a programme and Sr. Rita Dora gave an inspiring message.

As the nation celebrates her freedom fighters, we felt it necessary to honour people, who even today contribute to nation-building in their own way by freeing the society especially from the shackles of poverty, child labour, hunger and ignorance by generously contributing to their well being. Hence we invited our local benefactors at 11.30 am to be part of a short programme titled “Deshpremi Celebration”. The children performed a dance in gratitude for all that they do for the institution. They were felicitated with a sapling, handmade cards and a table piece which was prepared by our boarders.

In the evening, nearly 22 hostelites along with 2 Sisters went to the Shelter Don Bosco to celebrate Raksha Bandhan for the boys there. This was a moment of much joy. Thus 15th August was a day packed with a myriad of occasions and was ended honouring Mary through a dance put up by our boarders in the parish for Marian Academy. It was indeed a blessed day!
