AMAR # 985 Recollection cum Pilgrimage to Mount Mary Shrine of Salesian Family!

Our Annual Recollection is always held on the 1st Sunday in September, whereby all the Co-operators from Ahmednagar, Gujarat, Pune, ADMA and the Past Pupils participate. This year, unfortunately, due to the heavy rains only 2 from Ahmednagar, and one Past Pupil could attend the recollection held on 1st September 2019 at Auxilium Convent, Pali Hill, Bandra. In all, approximately 60 Cooperators attended the recollection.

Registration and Break Fast of the participants began from 8:30 am to 9:30 am. After the registration the session began with the welcoming Fr. Diego Nunes and Fr. Brian Moras began the recollection on the topic ‘Emotional Management’. He explained how unexpressed emotions and negative emotions affect our body.

Anger – Weakens the liver

Grief- Weakens the lungs

Worry- Weakens the stomach

Stress- Weakens the heart and brain

Fear – Weakens the Kidney

He then related to how Jesus at that time handled such situations with a Non-Violent Communication (NVC), through simple gatherings, teachings, and parables.

He also helped us cultivate positive emotions.

‘Love brings peace and harmony and strengthens the mind and body;

Laughter reduces stress;

Smile Spreads happiness’

Fr. then divided the participants into groups to discuss;

  1. Should we react in an adult way or non-adult way in difficult situations?
  2. Share one area in your life that you want to change.

To conclude, he said, “We have to follow Jesus’ way of forgiving and forgetting, and beginning anew with conflicts within the family and with friends. If we don’t, they will not experience God’s love.”

The recollection was followed by Mass at 12:15 pm Fr. Brian Moras was the main celebrant Fr. Diego Nunes SDB Provincial Delegate and Fr. Shekar Mariadas in charge of Dominic Savio unit were the concelebrants.

Sr. Catherine Fernandes, in collaboration with Sr. Leema Joseph, Animator of Auxilium Convent, Pali Hill and the community sisters, provided a melodious choir for the Mass and made all the arrangements which finally ended with a sumptuous lunch. Despite the rain, we proceeded to the Mount at 2:15 pm, walking and saying the Rosary on the way.
