Celebrating the Girl Child day in Dakor!

On 2nd September 2017 we celebrated girl child day with our village tuition and boarding girls. The theme for the day was “Every girl child is precious”. We began the programme at 1.30 p.m. Around 130 girls from different villages were present for the occasion  Fr. Lorenzo D’Souza SDB, principal of Don Bosco, Dakor was the resource person for the day. Through videos and stories he brought out the beautiful message and conveyed that the girl child is precious. He also stressed on the importance of education as it helps a girl child to live a life of dignity and life of confidence and purpose. Sometime the girl child is not wanted by the family and the society. He made them aware of their rights as girls. To mark the significance of this day, the VEP children put up a cultural programme coupled with dances and songs.  We had various competitions such as hair style and mehendi and we conducted a few games for them. Snacks were served to present. They enjoyed the day very much and got the feeling that they are special and precious. During the concluding prayer, we thanked the Almighty God for all the girl children and prayed for all those who suffer because they are girls.
