It was a red letter day for all the Anmol children of Uttan as they had an opportunity to go for a Flight of Fantasy on 11th November 2017 through Sahayini Social Development Society. It was an initiative organized by Jet Airways in collaboration with Indian Oil.
The day was full of surprises for the participants from four different NGOs. Sr. Moksha Antoappa and Sr. Savina Naik accompanied twenty three girls from Anmol Uttan for this special programme. As the children entered the International Airport the Jet Airways Team was eagerly awaiting them. They welcomed each one and handed over a T-shirt and a cap with the logo of Jet Airways. The children were all excited and speechless as they were given an orientation to the International Airport and the procedures to be carried out at the Airport when one travels by Jet Airways. The Emcee welcomed us, organized a few games, interacted with the audience and introduced the Jet Airways and then there was something more awaiting us.
First the famous film actress Shabana Azmi made a royal entry and boosted the spirits of children with few words. With her powerful words she encouraged boys and girls to respect and uplift each other. Next followed the entry of Toon characters from Nickelodeon and the Director of Golmaal, Rohit Shetty and the two actors Kunal and Shreyas Talpade. On seeing them, all the children were bubbling with joy as they danced, clicked many photos and gave them their Autographs. Surprise of the day was yet to come, namely the Joy of Flying. Lunch packets were distributed to the children and soon after that our boarding passes were given. Holding the boarding passes in our hands was like our dream coming true! As we all entered the flight for one moment the children were pinching each other checking if it’s really true. For forty minutes we were taken in the flight to the southern part of Mumbai. When we landed back we all assembled at the arrival hall where they distributed gifts.
Anmol Girls offered Ms. Neha, the Assistant Manager of Jet Airways and her team beautiful handmade flowers expressing their sincere thanks. We are truly very privileged ones to get this rare opportunity, thanks to the efforts of Sr. Aruna Castelino, Mrs. Suzie D’Silva and Sahayini Social Development Society. It was a memorable experience of a lifetime!
