GIRL-CHILD DAY WITH A DIFFERENCE – CARANZALEM!

GIRL-CHILD DAY WITH A DIFFERENCE – CARANZALEM!

Every girl that is born in a family is a special blessing from God above – a masterpiece of his creation. All of us need to acknowledge this and sensitize people about it. At Auxilium, Caranzalem we wanted to achieve this goal and celebrate girl-child day with a difference. So we invited the DARE (Defence against Rape and Eve teasing) team to sensitise our school girls. They were a team of four young girls who explained to them the different types of threats that girls have to face and stressed upon rapes and eve teasing. Separately, the team spoke to the girls, as they were divided into two groups: the elementary school and the high school. They stressed about the stages of eve teasing, stages of rape, danger defence tactics, safety tips and measures. They also demonstrated a few techniques of self-defence against eve teasing, harassment from men and rapes. They also called upon a few students and asked them to perform some techniques which they demonstrated earlier. As they concluded their session the team asked the girls to take a vow which stated, “I dare to stand up for myself and for the women around me. I dare to take matters in my own hands in order to protect my honour. I believe I am empowered to make this world a safe place for women.” Sr. Celine Pinto, the headmistress thanked the team DARE for making our girls aware of the offences against women, how to face them with courage and to defend oneself against it. May every girl-child be respected and treated with dignity!
