World day of the Poor and Children’s day at Bableshwar

On 18 November, Heeding the invitation of the Holy Father to make the world day of the poor a meaningful one for the least, Sr. Joanna Lobo went to Shingadaakada a remote village, to celebrate Children’s day and share our joy with them.  We had a moment of prayer, followed by the children sharing their realities and later we had games, they danced away, we gave them prizes and shared crayons, snacks and some stationary with them.  One could see them beaming with joy, it was indeed a beautiful moment for us too.

28 November, we went to Nirmal Pimpriin the evening as the children return home from school in the evening.    Around 30 children came in and Sr. Joanna Lobo had a moment of prayer and it was amazing to see the way the children were prayer with great reverence and one could see them peaceful.

We then had some games and give away the prizes and gifts, it was very dark as the chapel there did not have lights and it became difficult to do anything after some time.  Despite the darkness the smiles and joy of the children could be seen, above all they were concerned about us and very grateful to us for having spent time with them.

As we want to discourage the use of plastic bags, we gave both these groups a cloth bag per family, encouraging them to ‘CARRY A BAG NOT TAKE A CARRY BAG’
