For Don Bosco, his mission began with Catechesis and his sons follow suit in declaring the 8th February as the Catechetical Day for the schools of the Konkan province. About 80 students with 10 teachers together with Salesian fathers made the assembly at Don Bosco Animation Centre Benaulim under the animating presence of Fr. Bernardino Almeida. The chairperson, being the Vice -Provincial Rev Fr. Clive Telles, the Resource persons were Fr. Ralin De Souza and Fr. Jason Pinto. They spelt the current problems that weakened our Democracy and the solution was sought in the Biblical figures like Abraham, Moses, David and the like through a session. Our students of Std. 9th of Don Bosco Oros brought out well the General theme “Called to be a Holy Nation” and unfolded with taste and decorum the shadows of Democracy and strengths by striving to be Godly persons and upright citizens through skit, dance, song and signposts.
The Eucharist was made solemn by Fr. Christovan Cardozo and the cultural programme was a feast to the eye. The punch line was the message of the Vice-Provincial asking the students to live the values they had learnt and carry home one such value to live by. Fr. Edison and community extended cordial hospitality to the fullest.
