AMAR # 1589 Celebrating Lord Baden Powell’s birthday and World Thinking Day at Lonavla

On the 22nd of February during the morning assembly, Lord Baden Powell’s birthday was celebrated with great excitement at Auxilium Convent High School, Lonavla,. The programme began with an introduction of Lord Baden Powell and the commencement of the scouting movement which was started by him. The significance of the day was explained and also the objective of starting the Girl Guide movement all over the world was highlighted. The All- Faith Prayer was recited followed through religious songs.

 Sr. Sheela Furtado spoke to all the students explaining the motto of the Guides – “BE PREPARED” She highlighted their objective, that their mission is to be change makers and bepeace bringers to the society. Guides are to be available for the service of the society whenever and however needed.

The students of Std. VII were then invested as guides by the Guide Captains after reciting the Guide Oath. They received their own scarves and woggles and were welcomed to the Girl Guide Movement. The Girl Guide Flag was hoisted by the Colour Party along with the recitation of the Guide Prayer and the Guide Anthem.

The programme was an enriching one as the students of Std. V- VII were present for the ceremony. They got an idea about the Scout and Guide Movement and were made aware of the great role played as Guides in the society. They were also encouraged to prepare themselves to be Guides in the near future.
