AMAR # 1612 Nashik Youth discovering the meaning of LENT

“Many are called but few are chosen.” The Sisters of Maria Vihar and the Sisters of Sacred Heart Training Centre along with the Novices had a special day with the young people at Maria Vihar. The day began at 9.15am by exploring the theme: What is Lent for Me? We had registration, prayer and welcome by the animator Sr. Hilda Mascarenhas, wherein she welcomed the young gathered saying, “Many are called but few are Chosen” it was a great good start for the entire day. We had action songs by the novices and ice-breaker by Sr. Vanita. It was wonderful to see everyone so excited and thrilled.

The first session ‘What is Lent’ was delivered by Rev. Fr. Leon Rodrigues SDB.   The session delivered by Fr. Leon was very interactive. The action songs were sung by the novices, which brought good cheer, joy, happiness which was seen on the faces of the young people. The next session was conducted by Srs. Vanita Khristi and Sandra Fernandes, which was based on “What is Lent for me? The session was creatively given by spelling LENT – L –stands for Love of God, neighbour and self. E- Stands for the Eucharist, the highest form of love shown by Christ Jesus. N – Stands for the powerful Name of Jesus Christ which has power to save, heal and make us NEW.  T – Stands for Transformation of life after reflecting on the earthly life of Christ. The Eucharist was the centre of the day.   During the homily Fr. Clarence brought out the message of how God calls each of us in different ways. During the sign of peace, Srs. Wilma, Hilda and Salome went to each young person and exchanged the sign of peace through a meaningful gesture and a thought from St. Mary Mazzarello.

The 20 young girls enjoyed the games conducted by Srs. Jaya and Jesmine conducted the games. Each group was asked to creatively make a reel on any one station of the Way of the Cross. The vocation story shared by Novice Sr. Reena and Sr. Jesmine stirred some new vigour among the youngsters.

During this Lenten season may we grow in the likeness of Jesus and bring many youngsters close to Him.
