‘Poetry is when an emotion has found its thoughts and the thoughts have found it words.’ Said Robert Frost.

UNESCO first adopted 21st March as World Poetry Day during its 30th General Conference in Paris in 1999, with the aim of supporting linguistic diversity through poetic expression and increasing the opportunity for endangered languages to be heard.

Auxilium Convent High School- Baroda celebrated the ‘World Poetry Day’ by giving space and opportunities to our budding poets. The initiative was taken by our Principal Sr. Philomena Lobo fma gave a platform to all our students from Std 1 to std 11th of both English and Gujarati mediums to articulate their thoughts into words, express their emotions and opinions. The students recited their self-written poems in a creative manner on various topics such as ‘Nature, Mother, Soldier, teacher, etc.  It was wonderful to see the students on stage expressing their sentiments, thoughts and emotions through their poetry in English, Hindi and Gujarati.  At the end the Principal Sr. Philomena Lobo, appreciated all the participants for their efforts and encouraged them to read a lot of poetry, to listen to live poetry recitations, try telling a story with a poem and to express their ideas through poetry.  The participants were given participant certificates.
