AMAR # 361 Ashish Bhavan, Kune celebrates Parents Day

On 11th February, 2018 Parents day was organized at Ashish Bhavan Kunegaon. Around  50 parents gathered for the meet. Sr. Carol Nunes warmly welcomed the parents and the children of Ashish Bhavan ,through a prayer dance invoked God’s blessings on all those present. 

The chief guest Sr. Moksha Mary Anthonappa,the Social Development Co-ordinator of the Province from Sahayini Mumbai was felicitated with plant. Sr. Cecilia Crasta , the guest of honour was also felicitated. The gathering continued with cultural programme by the children on various themes such as Save the Girl, Educate the Girl, Develop the society and We are a Family.

Through dances and the skit the children gave powerful message to the parents.  Every child was given a part to play in the programme. The chief guest  Sr. Moksha addressed the parents and  encouraged them to care for their children, to take interest and to co-operate with the sisters in educating them. She narrated the story of a man who was forced to send his mother to an old age home. Finally on the day of his retirement, he decided and took his mother and built a new home to stay with her. When family members questioned, he said when I was small and sick my mother took me on her shoulders and gave me treatment and helped me to live my life. She is and will always be my mother and I will never send her to old age home till I die.

With this story the parents were motivated to do something good for their children. So that they may remember them in their old age. The village school boys too presented a group dance on the occasion. A power point presentation on the works of Ashish Bhavan gave a glimpse of whole year’s activities at our centre. 

Our student Nazia’s guardian Mrs. Shabnam thanked the sisters on behalf of the parents. Mrs. Malati Hivrale expressed gratitude through a song. A social worker from Sarva Seva Sang represented the NGO to thank the sisters for the wonderful work with children referred by them. Sr. Vanita Khristi proposed vote of thanks and Sr. Moksha introduced to all the parents the sisters and staff of Ashish Bhavan. The programme came to an end with a group photo and distribution of snacks to parents and children. Parents were given the privilege to take a family photo. The parents expressed thanks for the positive experience they had and went home after interacting with their children and the sisters.

  1. Wonderful programme for the parents of the kids…they must have felt so happy to be there and proud of the achievements of their children, looked after and educated by the Sisters. Brava sisters!
