By Sr. Melissa D’Souza

Scout/Guide movement was introduced in Auxilium High School Caranzalem. The Chief Guest for the day was Sir Mukund Kamble, a retired teacher and Scout Master. He also came to the school on several occasions to prepare the students for this special day. The students were taught the Scout/Guide Anthem, the Prayer Song, and the Flag Song and were also given instructions regarding their behavior, duties and responsibilities.
The ceremony began with the hoisting of the Scout Flag by the headmistress, Sr. Celine Pinto. The headmistress was the first person to be presented with the school Scout/Guide Scarf. This was followed by the investiture ceremony of about 184 students as scouts and guides. Sir Kamble in his speech explained the duties of the scouts and guides, while the headmistress spoke about the pioneers of the Scout/Guide Movement. The entire programme was compared and coordinated by Guide Captain Mrs. Margaret Menezes, while the Physical Education teacher, Sir Jose Lopes along with the other teachers assisted her.
This was indeed a special day in Auxilium High School, Caranzalem as we witnessed our students assuming this additional role as scouts and guides and promising to be faithful to their duties as good citizens of the country.
