Marian Month at SJTC, Lonavla – August 2018
The Community of SJTC, Lonavla – Sisters and Candidates – celebrated August 2018 as Marian Month in honour of Our Blessed Mother. It commenced on 31st July 2018 with a candle-light Vigil Service animated by Sr. Sunita Moteghar and Sr. Assumption Gonsalves. Throughout the month the Candidates were brought closer to Mary through various activities and initiatives on Our Lady such as: preparing and enacting skits on the role of Mary in Don Bosco’s life, decorating the statues of Our Lady, creative Rosary animations by the Candidates, meaningful Notice Boards and Goodnights by all on the role of Mary in one’s life. Special Visits to the Blessed Sacrament were animated by Sr. Cecilia Crasta from 22nd to 30th August 2018 on the theme “Mary and the Eucharist.”
Candidates made a group-wise study of a number of Marian shrines, Marian Apparitions, and Marian feasts and presented it to the Community through PowerPoint and Video Presentations. We did not have any competitions. Everything was done to show our love to Mother Mary and to find ways how to be ‘Mary-like’ in one’s life.
The Marian Night conducted by Sr. Assumption Gonsalves and Sr. Sunita Moteghar was a grand finale to the month. It began with a Visual Rosary and a short prayer moment followed by games, puzzles, Marian Quiz, enactment etc. The Candidates truly enjoyed the entire month and expressed their joy by thanking the Sisters for bringing them closer to Mary. They expressed their gratitude through a song.
Special Programme on the Constitution of India – SJTC, Lonavla
In keeping with the PROVINCIAL PROJECT 2018-2019, we at SJTC, Lonavla had classes on the Constitution of India both for Sisters and Candidates. Mrs. Margaret D. of Auxilium Convent High School, Lonavla very meaningfully explained the Preamble of the Indian Constitution and the fundamental rights and duties of every citizen of India. She also used appropriate video clippings to enhance her teaching. She introduced the Community to a number of video songs on social awareness and on Right to Information.
She also showed us the movie ‘Prahaar’ and facilitated a discussion on it. The community had a meaningful evaluation of the same.
