AMAR # 613 Diwali celebration at Aux-Wadala

DIWALI, the festival of light, is one with several stories attached to it. The most popular tradition in Hinduism is the story of the return of Rama, king of Ayodhya, with his wife Sita and brother Lakshmana to his capital city after 14 years exile and a war in which he defeated the demon – king Ravana. It commemorates the people of Ayodhya who lit oil lamps along the road to light the returning king’s path in the darkness of a new moon night and welcome them home.

We celebrated this feast in the school with the teachers, students and support staff. The student’s portrayed the meaning of Diwali depicted in five consecutive days with their beautiful enactment.

The children’s day was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the Management and staff. The Teachers of the school entertained the students by performing songs, dance, and poems. The program started with a prayer service praying for our children and also all over.  The teachers rocked the stage with their enthralling dance performances. All said and done was very good as Tr. Suchita captured the audience with her spontaneous compering for the day.  Speaking on the occasion, the Manager of the school, Sr. Meena D’Silva wished the students a happy children’s day and motivated to follow the footsteps of their teachers who give themselves selflessly in the mission.

The celebration followed the distribution of snacks and mat to each student and thereafter talent show competition such as rangoli, painting, drawing, art and craft, hairdressing, nail painting, flower making, soap making, jewellery making,  quilling, diya painting, etc. The best were chosen while the others were encouraged to exhibit their art on the day allotted to them. God bless and preserve our children from all harm and danger.

The spirit of Diwali continued to flow among our workers as Sr. Savita Parke through a well-prepared prayer moment prayed for our workers and thereafter shared the fellowship meal with the support staff. The community sisters wished each of our Hindu helpers and their family the light of love and peace.

Romans1:20 says “God is light, in Him, there is no darkness at all”

So let us strive to spread this light to all we meet in our day to day life. Let us dispel the darkness with the light.
