AMAR # 614 Diwali cum Children’s Day at Aux-Lonavla

The term exams having ended yesterday the students were in a relaxed mood and all excitedly geared up for the twin celebration of children day and Diwali. All students came colourfully dressed. The stage was brightly decorated with lamps, lanterns, and flowers, “Children you are joyful flowers in Auxilium’s garden of love” – these words formed the backdrop. The portrait of Jawaharlal Nehru was also decorated on the stage. The programmed began with Sr. Josephine Fernandes lighting the lamp. The class teacher and monitress of each class received the light from Sr. Josephine. They, in turn, lit the lamps that were placed in every classroom. A rangoli was also made outside every class. The teachers of all sections conducted a meaningful prayer service where children were prayed for. We also prayed for the light of Truth to triumph over evil. The five days of Diwali- the significance of each of these days was presented in Marathi by the teachers.

Then followed a programme of various dances put up by the staff members. The students were thrilled to see their teachers performing for them. After the programme, the students of Stds. V, VI, and VII had to decorate diyas and Stds. VIII, IX, and X had lantern making competitions.

The day was enjoyed by one and all and the school closed for the Diwali vacation.
