AMAR #745 Outreach by Aux-Lonavla to the Adivasis' at Dahanu

On 17th of February, 45 students along with 3 teachers and 4 Sisters left for Dahanu  for an outreach programme. The Dahanu outreach was planned by the headmistress Sr. Sheela Furtado.

We were happy to meet the community at Dahanu. Sr. Mangala Kolge took us to Dahanu beach where we spent time preparing sand castles. Late evening after supper we all sat to prepare the bags to be distributed to the students. Next day we left for the village to spend time with the kids of the two Municipality Schools. As soon as we reached the Adivasi pada, we were warmly welcomed by  the Adivasi children and their teachers . They welcomed us with a song and beautiful dance.

We teachers and students organised many games and funny skits. We danced with them and then distributed Sholapuri bed sheets, rice, sugar, tea , oil, dal, soaps and school stationery . They were overjoyed to receive these items. They thanked us for our act of love.

We left the place with a feeling of satisfaction and inner happiness. We thank Sr. Sheela for her initiative to help the Adivasi children who survive with a meal, a day and for giving us the opportunity to experience the real joy of giving. We understood how grateful and satisfied we have to be for all that we receive. We also saw the joy on the faces of these small kids and how happy they are with what they have.
