AMAR # 1651 Orientation @ Auxilium Wadala.

A staff orientation programme was held on 13th June,2022 at Sr.Bertha hall for the entire teaching faculty from 9.00am to 1pm.The session began with a Prayer moment conducted by Sr. Jennifer invoking the Holy Spirit to guide the teachers with his wisdom and loving hands of understanding. Our Superior Rev. Sr. Magdeline Sequeira then lit the candle of light as a symbol invoking the Holy Spirit to infill in all his fire and set the mood of the session with full fervour .

Sr. Shanthi Fernandes then introduced our speaker for the day Mrs.Karen D’lima.A multi- faceted personality with so many feathers in her cap. She conducts online therapeutic group sessions catering to women, children and frontline warriors ,helping them through art .Mental health issues and well- being are her forte. After her introduction the session began with a question: ‘HOW IS THE JOSH’? .Ma’am questioned us as to why  children want to come to school. What are the challenges we faculty will face in the classroom post Covid or rather in the middle of an anticipated new wave.

Next she spoke about GPS. An acronym which spells out G- God, P- Peers, S- students. An activity was then conducted of reliving a good / bad memory with the help of a dupatta to be tied, symbolic of the effect or memory of the incident and tying it to a chair as a sign of letting go of that memory. Further the session saw each of the faculty drawing their own personal growth chart and where they see themselves in the current situation.

Next a topic of ‘Labels ‘was discussed and how we can make or break an individual by a spoken word or non- verbal communication. After the activity, each faculty was given a chocolate and they had to go to another teacher and express what amazing personality trait appeals to them .

Auxilium Wadala in the true Salesian spirit follows the 3 core principles given by Don Bosco. Karen Ma’am suggested ways and means to incorporate these valuable principles with simple examples. For our takeaway each class with their class teachers prepared a chart displaying a GPS through a symbol. All the faculty brought out the M.F.Hussain in themselves depicting a wonderful display that is mind- blowing and awe- inspiring.

The cherry on the cake was a unique vote of thanks proposed with full gusto by 3 faculty members thanking Karen for the most wonderful Orientation programme at the beginning of the new academic year.
