Educating Community meet!

On the 11th August 2017, the Community of Eusebia Pre-Primary School conducted a meeting of the Educating Community. Sr. Wilma De Souza, the manager welcomed the members of the Educating community. Those present were two parents of the KG children:  Mrs. Reshma Parmar and Mrs. Megha Salunke, our two staff Tr. Christina Lucky and Tr. Lorna Samuel and our Juniors Sr. Smitha Gonsalves and Sr.Shilpa Gonsalves who are KG teachers.  Sr. Sandra Fernandes, Head Mistress of the School, organized the meeting.  After some refreshments, a Power-Point on the theme of the Family was presented as this is the theme on which our entire Youth Pastoral is working on this year.  The presentation concluded with the hymn –“God still loves the World”. Then Sr. Wilma explained to the group the concept and significance of the “Educating Community.”  She dwelt on these important points:-

  • This year Pope Francis, the head of the Catholic Church, has dedicated this year as the Year of the Family. The family plays a very important role in moulding the character of their children, particularly in their tender age. Since the situation of the Family has worsened due to poverty, unemployment, separation of parents, lack of love and trust in the family, it has negative consequences on the children and their growth. Sr. Wilma mentioned the Encyclical ‘Amoris Leticia’ written by Pope Francis.
  • Parents are the first educators of Children and lay the basis for their future education.
  • Teachers are educators and play a very important role in the life of the children, teaching them lessons and values of life.
  • Both parents and teachers are collaborators in helping children grow in maturity, guiding them on life’s journey and enabling them to achieve God’s plan over their lives.
  • Parents too must cooperate with the teachers, lending their help in small ways as for e.g. Annual Day / Sports Day / Outings etc.
  • Every person who comes in contact with the children in School: Rickshaw driver, watchman, and helper in the class, classmates and teachers…all have an educative impact on the child.

The second part of the meeting consisted of planning for the upcoming events in the School: Teachers’ Day, Fancy Dress Competition, Diwali celebrations etc. Sr. Wilma concluded the meeting, thanking the Educating Community members for their availability and willingness to collaborate with the management for the good of their children.
